At 30 June 2001 the Territory's estimated resident Indigenous population was 57,600, 29% of the total population of the NT.
The traditional owners of Alice Springs are the Central Arrernte people also as a hub it attracts Aboriginal people from all over Central Australia and beyond. Speakers of Warlpiri, Kaytetye, Ngaanyatjarra, Alyawarre, Luritja, Pintupi, Pitjantjatjara, Warumungu, Yangkunytjatjara, Pertame, Eastern and Western Arrernte, as residents or visitors. Find out more.... | Gallery Gondwana was established in 1990 at 43 Todd Mall, the main street in Alice Springs town centre, near the canvas "sails" a local landmark. From its inception Roslyn Premont, the owner, encouraged local artists and supplied canvas and paint and eventually a studio, it is a gathering place for local and visiting artists.
