| | | | Gallery Gondwana proudly presents our annual signature exhibition of Indigenous female artists of the Australian desert, combining indigenous and non indigenous artists under the Divas of the Desert banner.
Highlighted by diverse regional genres, individual creativity and cultural richness, Divas of the Desert presents a most exciting and visually captivating body of paintings from many desert communities such as Ikuntji Artists, Artists of Watiyawanu Warlukurlangu Artists, Keringke Artist, Bidyadanka artists, Tjala Arts and Kaltjiti Arts.
Artists included in this exhibition of Divas of the Desert are Alice Nampitjinpa, Alma Webou, Eunice Napanangka, Anmanari Napanangka, Bessie Sims, Betsy Napangardi Lewis, Dorothy Napangardi, Judy Napangardi Watson, Julie Nangala Robinson, Kathleen Wallace, Liddy Walker, Lorna Napurrula Fencer, Linda Napurrula, Margaret Barragurra, Narputta Nangala, Sally Liki, Tali Tali Pompey, Weaver Jack, and introducing Mitjili Napanangka Gibson.
invitees Alice Springs is primarily known for Indigenous art but there are also many talented non Indigenous artists known nationally and internationally who live in Alice Springs. These artists draw inspiration from the landscape and the strong spirit of the desert. For the second time, Gallery Gondwana is proud to host the non indigenous artists Deborah Clarke, Marina Strocchi and Tim Rollason, as part of our signature exhibition. | |
