RACHEL NAPALTJARRI

RACHEL NAPALTJARRI was born near Jila Well in the Western Desert in Central Australia. She has been painting since 1985 when she attended painting classes at the Institute of Aboriginal Development in Alice Springs.

Her Jukurrpa (Dreaming totems) are the Green Parrot and Kangaroo. Her work depicts the Kangaroo Dreaming, her Father’s Dreaming and the country surrounding Jila Well. The concentric circles depict the campsites and waterholes while the connecting lines depict the dreaming tracks of the Kangaroo.
