Gallery Gondwana,
representing contemporary aboriginal art since 1990
 |
It is with
great honour that Gallery Gondwana presents the new works of
Molly Napaltjarri Jugadai.
This is an
exciting time in Molly's artistic career. Not only is she
an artist in transition, but these new paintings represent a
pivotal moment for her personally. Molly is best known for
painting the legend of the Napaltjarri sisters who came to earth
thousands of years ago and represent the first inhabitants on
earth.
In her most recent
paintings Molly's mother, Narputta Jugadai has given permission
to paint her story, the story of Lake MacDonald, west of
Kintore. In these new works, Molly explores her mother's country
in a way not expressed by Narputta - presenting this landscape
with bold composition and colour, capturing an honest and
imaginative geography.
One cannot escape
feeling Molly's innate relationship to land, to her mother and a
story that is now her own. |
