In this striking classic style of painting by Dorothy Napangardi, she paints her ' borning country ' in the most traditional way of painting the ' Tingari Cycle '. Normally reserved for men and senior women, who have the rights to country, and connected with their father, Dorothy sat with her father who sang beside her the short song cycles that accompanied the ceremonies associated with this country.

This artwork by Dorothy was painted in 2003, after having spent two weeks with her father Paddy Japanangka Lewis on a back to country trip, along with her aunties (patrilineal Napanangka). This deep connection with country inspired Napangardi to paint the country as a traditional map showing the extended clay pans, sand dunes, fresh water sources, ridges, and gathering spots. It is a physical and spiritual map.

This work is featured on page 46 in the monograph: Honouring and Remembering the Art and Life of Dorothy Napangardi, 1987-2013
