Marie Napurrula
Marie was born in September 1967, in Waratah, NSW. She has since moved back to Alice Springs to immerse her seven children in the family traditions and customs that were taken from her before she was born.
Marie's grandmother was part of the Stolen Generation. She was taken from her father at Jay Creek when she was only nine years old and was a bush child who didn't speak English.
Her great-grandmother, Imbana, was a traditional bush woman born at Tempe Downs. Belonging to the Luritja language group, her traditional country includes Kings Canyon and the area around the Mereenie Loop.
