Melissa Dhadinku

Melissa Dhadinku lives on the island of Milingimbi off the coast of central Arnhem land where her family fishes and lives off the land. Before she was born her mother heard a knocking on the door, however, when she opened it and looked outside no one was there. Her father was sleeping at the time and when he woke up he told Melissa's mother that he had dreamed of an animal spirit. That animal spirit was Melissa's totem and that is how her parents knew that she was inside her mother.
