Winston Mitchell, born around 1952, is a prominent leader and respected Law Man in the Papulankutja (Blackstone) community within the Ngaanyatjarra lands. He was born in the traditional way in the bush west of Blackstone and grew up in Warburton Mission, where he attended school. Winston speaks Ngaanyatjarra and resides in Papulankutja, Western Australia.

Coming from a large painting family, Winston plays a vital role in imparting significant cultural knowledge to young men during initiation ceremonies. His paintings depict stories from the Dreamtime, emphasizing strong men’s law and culture. His artworks include cultural designs and body painting patterns used in men’s law ceremonies.
