Little Temptation (Touching Earth Series), 2011 by Rusiate Lali 30x25cm
In this series of paintings, Touching Earth , we see that Rusiate stresses the importance of maintaining a balance with Mother Nature. To respect the Earth and the elements by whenever possible, growing your plants organically. The barefoot states the endurance of walking lightly on the earth, by being connected.Throughout this painting Rusiate depicts the temptation every farmer will encounter. At first the farmer is most very proud of his work, as his hard work has finally paid off with the earth responding to the seeds he had planted.

Though much to Dau Teitei’s horror, a wolf of temptation grows from the stem of his crop. The temptation to use chemicals to artificially enhance the crop greater, without much time. The farmer and Mother Nature together reach out not to the temptation, but to the earth. To go beyond the pretend growth and back to the ways of the ancestors. To feel grounded just like they did and wait patiently for naturally growth.

Rusiate’s Father's name is Matai Tinai which in English translates into Ten Eyes. As one of Rusi’s trademarks he will always paint eyes in his artwork. We see the flying boxes, which is Rusiate’s way of portraying information, perhaps not easily seen.

This painting is shipped on the stretcher frame
