Nora Wompi, Kunnawarritji 2002, Etching

Titled Kunnawarritji 2002, this charming etching by acclaimed artist Nora Wompi Nungarrayi is in the collection of the Art Gallery of NSW. The Image size 25x25cm and the paper size 40x40cm. The medium is etching and chine collé, red ink on cream wove Hahnemühle paper which captures the light beautifully.

Also spelt Kunawarritji, it refers to Well 33 which is on the Canning Stock Stock, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Nora Wompi was born close to here, in the Great Sandy Desert, in a place called Lilparu where she lived a traditional lifestyle until her early twenties.
