Born circa 1940, Jimmy Pike started his early years in the Great Sandy Desert region of WA, living a traditional nomadic life moving around various waterholes, participating in ceremonies, learning hunting techniques and understanding seasonal bush foods. His people are the Walmajarri, being some of the last to leave the desert country region which influence and inspire his work as an artist.
