Barbara Napangarti Reid's "Minyma Tingari - Sandhill Country, 2000", measuring 41x41cm, vividly portrays the tali (sandhills) through large arc shapes and lines, representing the body paint worn by Ngaanyatjarra women during Tingari ceremonies. These rituals are crucial for preserving cultural practices, educating post-initiatory stages, and explaining contemporary customs. Reid's painting captures the sacred journeys of Tingari ancestors who, during the Creative Era, traversed vast landscapes, singing the world into existence.

Born in 1964 near Tjukurla in the Gibson Desert, Barbara Napangarti Reid is a prominent artist from the Ngaanyatjarra language group. She is the daughter of the renowned artist Ningura Napurrula and was raised in a traditional setting, influenced by important leaders like Nosepeg Tjupurrurla and Dr. George Tjapaltjarri. Throughout her life, Reid has meticulously fulfilled her ceremonial duties, acquiring deep knowledge of rituals and women's healing traditions. Despite health issues that required periodic treatments in Alice Springs, she preferred spending time in the bush.

Reid's artwork has garnered significant recognition, being acquired by many National Collections in Australia and featured in numerous touring exhibitions. She was also a finalist in the 17th National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award (NATSIAA).
