Yalpirakinu 2007 by Adrian Jangala Robertson is a magnificent etching, measuring 19.5 x 12 cm with a paper size of 26.5 x 39 cm. Using a minimalist colour palette of sage green, creamy white, and soft yellow, Robertson captures the rejuvenation of desert mountains and ridges after rain, symbolising new growth in this arid landscape. This depiction of Yalpirakinu, also known as Yuelamu, is a tribute to his mother, Eunice Napangardi, a respected artist herself, and reflects Robertson's deep connection to family, heritage, and land.

Robertson’s work showcases the influence of his mentor, Billy Benn Perrurle, with bold, energetic brushwork and a keen attention to the natural landscape's form. The manipulation of colour and texture brings the landscape to life, inviting viewers to experience the essence of his mother’s Country.

Born in Papunya in 1962, Robertson has been a significant figure within the Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists since 2002. His artistic achievements include nominations for renowned Australian art awards such as the Wynne, Archibald, and Sulman Prizes. He has also earned prestigious accolades, including the Telstra Painting Award (2020) and the Alice Prize (2022). Adrian Jangala Robertson’s art is a powerful expression of his Warlpiri heritage and his intimate connection to the Central Western Desert.
